1. Wanderlust Seattle: Wanderlust has events all over the world, including places such as London and Barcelona. They are founded in Seattle and host events in the Seattle and Portland area. This event is part of the worldwide protest to end oil dependency. There is no pressure to be nude to attend the event. Hood Timberline Lodge all the way down to Sandy, OR. This trail is unique because through the 26.2 mile run, there is a 4,758 elevation loss; finishing at below 1,000 feet. This marathon gives a unique workout by being almost completely downhill. This may sound easier for beginners, but the “quad pounding” takes extensive training. Eugene also offers a half marathon, 5k, and a duck dash for the kids. This makes this event great for the family. Mount Rainier Duathlon: This event has several levels for different competitors. The triathlon will take you through rural farmlands and up Mud Mountain Dam where you will have to run, bike, and swim to get to the finish line. This can be done invaluably or as a relay. The bike ride of this course travels from Sunriver to Mount Bachelor. The bike ride is longer than most, at 58 miles, but the views are so beautiful the time will fly. Portland to the Coast by Bicycle: Although this is not an organized event, there is maps and guided routes to show you how to plan a bike ride with friends. There are 3 bike routes from Portland to the Oregon coast; ranging from 61 miles to 100. This is a great way to exercise with friends and see so much of the beautiful PNW. The fist and longest rout is Vernonia and it drops you off at the coastal town of Astoria. The shortest route is road threw the Wilson River. This route spits you route at Tillamook, the closest beach town to Portland. The Nestucca River will take you from Portland to Three Capes in 70 miles. Seattle Beast: For this event, strength comes in numbers, to sing up, you must have a team of at least four. You will help each other over walls and support each other sprinting up a mountain. Portland Turkey Trot: This is a fun 5k run/walk on Thanksgiving morning. This event benefits the NECC Youth programing and scholarships.
